Speech-Language Services

The ESU 1 Speech and Language Department provides assessment, intervention, and consultation services for children from birth through age 21 who have difficulties in speech and language development. Our goal is to support and enhance communication skills that are essential for academic success, social engagement, and lifelong learning.

Services We Provide

  • Comprehensive Speech-Language Evaluations -  Individualized assessments to identify areas of need and guide appropriate support.
  • Direct Therapy Services -  Targeted speech and language intervention delivered one-on-one, in small groups, or in   the classroom.
  • Consultation and Collaboration - Partnering with families, educators, and other service providers to support student needs across settings.
  • Professional Development and In-Services -  Training opportunities for school staff to build knowledge and strategies related to speech and language development.

How to Access Services

  • If you have concerns about a child’s speech or language development, contact your local school district administrator to make a referral.
  • An assigned ESU 1 employee will provide services in coordination with the district.
