Special Education Services

Autism Support

Families and educators seeking autism-related support are encouraged to begin by connecting with their local ESU staff. These professionals can provide valuable initial consultation, practical strategies, and helpful resources tailored to individual needs.

How to Access Services

Following initial contact, IEP teams may access additional support through the ESU 1 Autism Team. This team is composed of professionals from multiple disciplines and departments, all of whom receive specialized training in autism-related services. They are equipped to provide ongoing coaching and consultative support to school teams.

In addition to this internal expertise, there is also the opportunity to involve regional ASD support staff. These specialists bring further experience and may have access to supplementary resources and tools that can enhance and extend local services.

This tiered approach ensures that families and school teams receive responsive, collaborative, and specialized support to meet the unique needs of students with autism.
