Early Childhood Services

Early Childhood Special Education (Ages 3-5)

Early Childhood Special Education at ESU 1 provides comprehensive, developmentally appropriate services to children from age three through five who qualify for special education and related services. The goal is to support early learning, family involvement, and successful transitions into school for young children with disabilities.

Services We Provide

  • Evaluation and eligibility determination of developmental delays or disabilities
  • Individualized services for children with various disabilities, including speech/language impairments, hearing or vision loss, orthopedic impairments, and more
  • Support for teachers and parents to help kids learn all the time, not just during special sessions 
  • Collaboration with school districts and early childhood professionals including early childhood special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists(OT) and physical therapists (PT)

How to Access Services

For school-aged children, contact your local school and speak with a special education professional. For children not yet of school age, call ESU 1 at (402) 287-2061 or fill out the form linked below. ESU staff will guide families and districts through the referral and evaluation process.
