Audiology
What We Do:
ESU #1’s Audiology Department serves children 0-21 years of age with comprehensive audiological screening, testing and follow-ups in their homes, schools and in a soundproof testing suite at the Wakefield office.
Types of testing include:
- Pure Tone (tests present hearing ability)
- Tympanometry (tests middle ear function)
- Otoacoustic Emissions (tests cochlear function)
- Auditory Processing Skills (tests how the brain works with what it hears)
To make a referral, please call your local school district and request an audiological evaluation. Depending on each school system, the contact person may be the special education director or principal (elementary, middle school or high school).
